MARIAH CAREY to headline the AMAZON RAINFOREST for a historic show as a part of AMAZONIA LIVE – TODAY AND ALWAYS

A true icon in modern pop culture, Mariah Carey is set to add yet another historic moment to her incredible career when she performs an unforgettable set in the heart of one of the world’s natural wonders – the Amazon Rainforest. Taking to the stage as a part of Amazônia Live – Today and Always taking place on Wednesday 17th September, Mariah will be performing on a floating stage on the Guamá River in Belém, Brazil.

Following a triumphant 2025 which most recently saw Mariah pick up the MTV Video Music Awards Vanguard Award in New York City – her performance floating in the Amazon Rainforest is guaranteed to be a true historic moment. Performing with the stunning backdrop of sunset in the Amazon Rainforest, the stage design will be inspired by the Victoria Amazonica – the region’s symbolic plant.

The aim of this special concert, which will also feature opening artists all showcasing the local culture of Pará (Dona Onete, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos, and Zaynara), is to raise awareness around protecting the natural world and rainforest itself – with Belem itself set to be the host city of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (Conference Of The Parties) – otherwise known as COP30. With the conference taking place in November, Amazônia Live – Today and Always with Mariah Carey spotlights the need to keep the forest standing by protecting its indigenous peoples, encouraging the bioeconomy, restoring degraded lands, and reforesting – thus contributing to the global challenge of reducing carbon emissions.

Amazônia Live – Today and Always will be turned into a TV special set to be broadcast nationwide in Brazil. Organised by the team at Rock World (the iconic team behind events such as Rock In Rio and The Town), it marks an event like no other – coming together for an incredible cause with a message and a movement aimed at preserving the planet for generations to come.

Brazil’s biggest star performs for free in a major public celebration

In addition to showing the world powerful images of the forest, Amazônia Live – Today and Always also seeks to create local impact. To mobilise the population of Pará and raise a collective cry in defence of the forest, the city’s football stadium, Mangueirão, will host one of Brazil’s greatest artists. On 20th September, Ivete Sangalo will perform for 46,000 people in a completely free concert — with both ticket batches selling out within just a few hours. That same day, the stage will also welcome Viviane Batidão, known as the queen of tecnomelody — a genre hugely popular in Pará — as well as the Lambateria Baile Show, featuring Lia Sophia, referencing guitarrada and carimbó, also hallmarks of local culture. All the behind-the-scenes of Amazônia Live – Today and Always are being documented and will result in a film about the project, preserving the most iconic moments of these historic shows in the region.
