Collaborations talk new single ‘You Gotta Know’!

When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?

As Collaborations we try to write positive themed songs in a Retro 60’s 70’s style.  This Idea came to me while I was writing the Melody line.  I kept thinking it should be a song about asking why are things the way they are.

How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band/project?

This is a retro sounding 60’s 70’s track with a modern flair. This is a mid-Tempo indi pop track about asking why can’t we change.

Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?

It is a track that is reflective in asking why things are the way they are and it is in our power to change them.  As is reflected in the lyric “It Doesn’t have to be all up in the Air”

How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?

This track is right in line with all our other songs that range from Social Issues “Running Out Of Tomorrows” to believing in yourself “Time For You”

What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?

The hardest part about putting the track together is logistically getting all the people in the room at the same time.  All are tracks are recorded with Life musicians and a Gospel background group called Devotion.   The make up of people can be 15 individuals.  Coordinating their schedules to meet the Collaborations project can be challenging.

Why should a reader check out the track?

If you are one of those people that says “They Don’t Make Music Like They Use To” then this is a must listen tack. It is old school inspiring with a modern touch.

What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?

It was Co-Written by Anais Preller (A graduate Student of the Berkly School of Music), Produced by our award-winning producer (Vic Steffens owner of Horizon Music Group), Arranged by Matt Oestreicher with an all star band including our  Grammy winning Bass Player Scott Spray,  Tom Nagy on Drums and Tim Dehuff on lead Guitar.  I pay Rhythm Guitar and Matt Oestriecher plays piano.   This is all complimented by our Gospel Choir Kevin Monroe and Devotion.
