Fruit For Thought

‘She is the embodiment of fire, revenge and rebellion’

Next, I bring you, CHERRYDEAD the dark and dastardly cousins in metal of Lucéith, who are also celebrating the release of their EP ‘Cynthia’ a story of despair, and dejection, wrapped in fury and incandescence, laced with petrol and lovingly shoved through your letterbox.
The place of women in society is an ongoing battle, it has been fought on all fronts for a long time. It is why we need artists like this to constantly deliver the important messages.

‘she’ll never bury her knife’

Singer Emily Drummond recently spoke at an industry event, I found her engaging, honest and fun, a genuine lover of people who wholeheartedly calls for an equal platform for all.
I absolutely love this EP, there is dread, there is a disturbing quality that runs through it, only stopping so that Emily can swallow a few more Brillo pads for her delectable snarls. Heavy music has always been looked at with derision and disgust, all the more reason to enter into a polite and pragmatic mosh, ‘after you, no after you, no I insist after you’ and then in jumps the seditious Cynthia to send everyone slamming into the walls.
If I were a WWE wrestler then the classical, ethereal section from 3.31 to the end of ‘Sit In The Silence’ that is my intro music. It is hauntingly humble, sinister yet subdued, it is a revelation, and yet it shrouds the things that remain to be seen.
The band are Emily Drummond, Kelly Shackleton, Evie Hall and Keira Taylor and they are the damsels of doom, loved by many, unloved by many more. Creeping up out of the murky depths of the cut, be scared and ‘Ensnared’ by the noises you hear, accept their hand of friendship and secure your place in this unforgiving world.
These two purveyors of original music (see Lucéith) deserve all the recognition and respect, fighting for their own worth and the worth of the wider community that they are a part of.

With both Lucéith and CHERRYDEAD firmly situated to represent our region, could it be that Cynthia is the daughter of a psycho?
