Gareth Dunlop and Lee Rodgers – both prolific songwriters hailing from Belfast – have teamed up once again on the heartfelt ‘Worlds.’ In this lush, acoustic duet, the pair deliver a dark, brooding portrait of the breakdown of a relationship, penned for the anticipated Syfy drama ‘REVIVAL.’
The pair are no strangers to soundtracking several films and TV shows, having previously collaborated on the emotive ‘The Past Is Never Dead’ in 2023 for the first official documentary on author William Faulkner. With ‘Worlds,’ their collective cinematic vision comes together beautifully, showcasing a seamless blend of raw, powerful vocal delivery that perfectly complements one another.
Accompanied by a stripped-down bed of tender grand piano and acoustic guitar, the duo invites an intense yet contemplative air of nostalgia. Taking turns on the first and second verse, they eventually meet one another – their voices colliding as they harmonise wistfully on the haunting lyrics, ‘Let our worlds collide.’
Gareth Dunlop is celebrated in the Irish scene and beyond for his authentic storytelling and rich, instrumental soundscapes, dedicated to delivering lyrical self-reflection with each release. In 2024, the Zenith Cafe recording artist embarked on a breakthrough year with the career-defining ‘Welcome To The House Of I Don’t Know,’ earning a nomination for Album Of The Year at The Northern Ireland Music Prize.
In ‘Worlds,’ the rising star offers a new perspective on Lee Rodger’s artistry, demonstrating that his powerful songwriting is developing beyond his solo endeavors.
