The Way Through The Woods

Revenant – noun; a person that returns after a long absence or after being presumed dead.

The death of the metal scene is a much mooted argument that raises its head from time to time. The endless comparisons to the older bands, how they did it best and no one will ever replace them. Working in the industry I see many bands not getting the breaks they deserve, if people will continue gatekeeping, and comparing, there is no way that new artists will get a chance to flourish. The mindset should not be one of replacement, but one of engagement and extending the services afforded to the industry to make the future secure together.
It is that ‘togetherness’ that I feel is lacking.
So, today I bring you Telford’s very own Recall The Remains, any friends of Kieran Scott’s are friends of mine, and instantly I am reminded of those ever, so talented ruffians Tortured Demon. Now, when I first heard TD, I thought I’m never hearing anything like this again, and here I have THE band that will give them a run for their money. I’d love to see RTR break a stage, I’m sure given a chance, these two bands would ensure an excruciatingly brilliant night out.
With graphic scenes to support the immense tunes, a purge, a reckoning and salvation, albeit fleeting, it is not the time to shy away, stand tall, stand true and be the reason that someone smiles today.
Meet your ‘Lifetaker’ in the ‘Empty Woods’ and if ‘ Cerberus’ be your guide then you have nothing to fear.
The ‘Darker Path’ beckons, we accept it, as it is all we know, our way through the woods, to an eternal place of belonging and peace – home.
The line -up is a quintet of quemeful creatures, Jacob Collins – vocals, Jordan Barnes – bass/vocals, Elliot Rowe – guitar, Zach Bowden-guitar/vocals and Anthony Morris on drums, rise with them, ride with them and collide with them, you won’t regret it.
I know this will displease many, but I need to say it, these songs, the riffs, the arrangements, the whole feel and connection that I get reminds me so much of Necrophagist, there I said it. Not exactly Death metal, but the energy, aura, simmering rage, for me it is these elements that put them on the same page.
Whilst I dip my toes into ‘Stabwound’ I am overcome with a privilege reserved for the few.

Take my life, bring me death, blood brother until betrayal or the very last breath.
