Groove Doctors 3 Prescribe a Fresh Dose of Soulful Sound with Debut Album
Formed in 2023 and already making waves across the Midwest, Groove Doctors 3 is a band that blends academic precision with pure musical passion. Based in East Lansing, Michigan, this dynamic trio has been captivating audiences with their infectious energy, genre-bending sound, and undeniable chemistry.
Groove Doctors 3—affectionately known as GD3—brings together three lifelong musicians who just happen to be professors at Michigan State University. Guitarist and vocalist Michael Lawrence hails from Seattle, Washington, and is a Professor of Law. Drummer David Stowe, a Professor of Religious Studies from Newton, Massachusetts, writes and teaches about music as part of his academic work. Bassist Glenn Chambers, from Houston, Texas, is a Professor of History and currently serves as Interim Dean of the Honors College. All three have published books in their respective fields, but when class is over, it’s time to plug in, tune up, and rock out.
Their debut album, LIVE AND LET LIVE, drops May 23, 2025, on the indie label Maintain Zen Music. The record captures the soulful, spontaneous feel of their live sets, featuring a blend of heartfelt originals and uniquely reimagined covers. More than just a side gig, GD3 is a testament to friendship, musicianship, and the enduring joy of making music.
