Electro-Pop Star LUNA on the Fire Behind No Rest and Her Wildest Year Yet

With a Times Square billboard under her belt, an arena tour with the Sugababes around the corner, and a electro-pop album that pulses with emotional urgency, LUNA is undeniably in her breakthrough era.

But No Rest isn’t just an album title—it’s a manifesto. In this exclusive interview, the rising star reflects on her creative evolution, restless ambition, and the surreal highs that come from turning vulnerability into art. From Paris stages to pre-show Kate Bush rituals, LUNA invites us into her beautifully chaotic universe – one that is just getting started…

Can you share how you originally got into music, and how your new album ‘No Rest’ reflects your artistic journey?

Music has always been my way of making sense of the world. I started writing songs as a form of escapism, a way to find my reality and language but also express emotions I couldn’t put into words otherwise. No Rest reflects that constant push forward—emotionally, creatively, physically. It’s about movement, about chasing something even when you don’t know exactly what it is. It captures my artistic journey because I’ve never really stopped searching for myself and my dreams.

With this album, you’ve captured a balance between exhaustion and exhilaration, celebrating the relentless nature of pursuing your dreams in a challenging world. Do you hope other musicians can resonate with this message?

Absolutely. Pursuing music—or any dream, really—isn’t just about the highs; it’s about the struggles, the self-doubt, the relentless drive that keeps you going even when it feels impossible. No Rest is about that balance—feeling completely drained yet more alive than ever. I hope it resonates with other artists who know what it’s like to sacrifice stability for passion, to push through the exhaustion because giving up just isn’t an option.

‘No Rest’ seamlessly fuses pop with electronica. Would you say you’ve discovered your distinct style or do hope to keep exploring your sound?

I think I’ve found the core of who I am sonically, but I never want to stop exploring. No Rest blends electronic and organic elements because that contrast reflects my energy—dreamy but urgent, ethereal but raw. That being said, I love challenging myself, so the next era might take a whole new turn. I never want to stay in one place for too long!!

You’ve built an eclectic and eye-catching persona, portrayed through your cinematic music videos and captivating stage outfits. How does this enhance the haunting yet anthemic feel of ‘No Rest?’

The visual side of my music is just as important as the sound. I want everything—my videos, my styling, my performances—to feel like an extension of the emotions in the music. The contrast between haunting and anthemic, fragile and powerful, is something I love playing with visually. I want people to step into a different world when they experience No Rest—one that feels surreal, but also deeply personal.

Congratulations on your upcoming UK arena tour with The Sugababes! How are you approaching performing to your biggest audiences to date?

Thank you! I’m so excited. Playing arenas is a whole new world for me, and I want to make sure my performance translates on a big scale while still feeling intimate and immersive. But I also feel like this tour will let me show a sweeter, more playful side of myself too. I want the show to feel like a fever dream, but one that leaves you feeling lighter by the end.

You’ve also toured the United States this January and headed on a big European tour with Eurovision winner Loreen. Where have you most enjoyed performing?

Every city has had its own magic, but there was something really special about Paris show. I performed in an iconic L’Olympia! The energy was unreal, and it felt like a whole new chapter opening up for me. That being said, Europe has such a deep appreciation for live music, and the audiences on the Loreen tour is incredible. I love seeing how different crowds react in different places—it keeps everything exciting.

How do you get in the right mindset before performing? Any pre-show rituals?

I always listen to the same song while I’m getting dressed and having my make up done. It’s Moving by Kate Bush. I also always need a moment of stillness before the chaos. I do short meditation right before I go on stage – it’s my way of reminding myself to stay present, to channel everything I’m feeling into the performance.

Since appearing on a Times Square billboard, it’s evident you’re on the road to superstardom. Does this feel like a full-circle moment, considering the message of striving for your dreams in ‘No Rest?’

It’s surreal. I wrote No Rest about that relentless pursuit—about pushing forward no matter what—and then suddenly, I see my face on a Times Square billboard? It’s wild. But at the same time, it doesn’t feel like an ending—it feels like proof that the journey is just getting started. I’m very grateful and excited about this journey.

Are there any specific album tracks that are very meaningful to you, and why?

They all mean something different to me, but if I had to pick one, I’d say I Got Ya. I wrote it as a letter to my younger self, so the whole writing process was very emotional and healing. It’s also a song about soulmates—about that deep, unconditional connection we’re all searching for. In a way, I wish I could be my own soulmate, to give myself the love and reassurance I’ve always craved. Every time I perform it, it feels like I’m reaching back in time and holding my younger self’s hand, reminding them that everything will be okay.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Definitely not resting (haha). Still evolving. Still creating. Sharing my world with more people. Hopefully playing bigger stages, working with artists I admire, and making music that challenges me and connects deeper and deeper with people. I don’t know exactly where I’ll be, but as long as I’m still chasing something that excites me, I’ll be happy.
