Omnium Gatherum

Morning my friends, hope the New Year has started well for you all, so today I bring you the new album from Symren Gharial aka Primitive Ignorant, I’ve been sitting with it for a while, because of work commitments in my day job and a couple of gigs I was covering.
Previously the bass player for 80’s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Sym uses his wealth of experience and knowledge to work with a whole variety of musicians, as they all set off on a journey that is inspirational and aspirational.
Constantly pushing himself to do better and be better, his new album ‘Psychic Cinema’ is an extension and an excursion of his earlier works. Of course, it contains my favourite ‘High Rise Vampires’ so I’m sold already.
It’s good to hear him sing more on this record, it is difficult to do something that you are not known for and show that you are willing to grow and nurture the talents you already possess.
The tracks ‘A Day With You’ and ‘Power (song for Iggy)’ have already had a chance to take up residence in our psyche, it is now time to see the picture in its entirety.
Psychic Cinema is a vehicle to promote discussion and debate on life and all its peculiarities. You don’t have to agree with everything, but a balanced attitude and outlook is always helpful and significantly undervalued in this day and age.
Reminisce in those ‘Salty Nights’ under the stars, with ‘No Soul’ and a rude awakening to a ‘6am Backward Smile’ instantly I get the horror image of a Chelsea grin, which belies the subtle, velvety hues that stir our inner sensibilities. Sym is a great storyteller, he has a lot of life to commentate on from both the spectator view and as a participant. We all have differing opinions and conversance, compositions like this align with our unique molecular and atomic structure, these songs excavate our bodies, hearts and souls.
Breathe in this pot pourri, this fragrant assortment of wonder, the sonic resemblance of the soothing stridulation of the night-time katydids. It is artistry that incorporates many facets, you can select your favourite or enjoy the journey as a whole.
Get your tickets my friends, it’s time the ‘Trash’ was taken out.
