DELILAH BON drops powerful new single ‘Not the President’

DELILAH BON has only just returned from her sold out UK album tour but she is back with a brand new single and lyric video for ‘Not the President’. Written in the wake of the US election results, the track is a powerful departure from the fierce rage she’s known for, offering a softer, more vulnerable message of hope and solidarity. The song reflects Delilah‘s deep empathy for the fears and anxieties expressed by her fans, particularly women and girls and the LGBTQ+ community, in the aftermath of the US election and subsequent waves of online hatred and discrimination.

In the days following the US election, Delilah opened her inbox to her fans and was overwhelmed by a flood of messages from around the globe, from people who were struggling with the political climate and what it meant for the future. From women and young teenage girls to queer people, non-binary individuals, and fathers, fans shared their fear for the future. “I had people reaching out, telling me my music gave them hope in a world that felt like it was taking a hundred steps back,” Delilah said. “The messages were overwhelming—some of them had never felt so alone or afraid for their safety.”

“I cried the entire set at my Bristol show at The Exchange in November,” which was just a couple of days after the US election. Delilah recalls. “Looking out at that beautiful, diverse crowd, seeing so many people from all walks of life screaming the lyrics, feeling a sense of safety and belonging— it pushed me over the edge. The hate I was seeing online, the hurt people were feeling, it made me want to combust with rage. But I realised that the world needs more than just rage right now. We need hope. The single artwork is a photo from that show. I will always remember that gig and the mutual love in that room.”‘Not the President’ feels like a sequel to DELILAH BON‘s groundbreaking anthem ‘Dead Men Don’t Rape’, which she wrote following the change on abortion laws in the US in 2022. This song has had over 5 million streams and is regularly used as a protest anthem worldwide. While her music has long provided an outlet for the anger and pain of marginalised groups, ‘Not the President’ offers a shift in tone—calling for a kinder, more inclusive world built on compassion and mutual respect.

Delilah will debut ‘Not The President’ live in the UK at her London show at the Garage on 21st March, 2025, (rescheduled from Nov 2024). The show marks a major milestone in Delilah’s growing career as her largest show to date on the Evil, Hate Filled Female album tour.
