‘Give me a cheat sheet and I’d use it’
Our lovable Welsh rogues, King Cerulean had a blast at the Isle Of Wight Festival this year and now, for those of you who missed the experience, you get to listen to two singles, in the comfort of your own home.
First off though let’s do the roll call, Adam Rocca – lead vocals, Alastair Papworth – lead guitar, Finley Corlett – keys, Francis Sinfield – trumpet, Henry Pring – drums, Jesse Wilson – bass, Shani Ciecierska- Holmes – backing vocals and percussion, Thomas Large- rhythm guitar and Tim Mayer – saxophone, phew!
We get a little fly and funky with the gloriously upbeat ‘Funkidium’ it has the irresistible blues/ jazz sounds of King Pleasure, the groovy saxophone, it’s not surprising they won the ‘New Blood’ category at Hot Vox. Watching the footage from I of W, we see them in their natural habitat, such a cool and affirmative vibe. They exhibit the buoyancy and unperturbed air of youthful innocence and instinct, which helps in the unhindered delivery of their songs.
Pretty little ditty number two is ‘Sunshine Caroline’ and I am reminded of Matt Bianco, and a smidge of The Fratellis, smart, stylishly put together, easy to connect with and instantly boppable. A great mix of sounds, dapper and a lot of fun. Having debuted on the Indie scene in 2018, they are currently on tour, an ideal tincture to get us through the winter.
Until then, drop the pincez nez and keep the lingerie and I’ll go and get my lab coat- ahem.
