‘I’m tired of this place, I’m tired of the human race.’
We’re all tired I’d say, we’ve been steeping in the same stagnant waters of corruption and craziness for several years now. With no end in sight, our friends Oceano return to the fore with their new album ‘Living Chaos’, another chance to think carefully about everything that has happened, all over the world and in our own communities.
To ensure we do not leave this place after a ‘Wasted Life’ we must delve further into our minds, seek out the decay, repair or eradicate whichever is the better option. We must promote a positive and healthy approach, one that is sustainable, universal and adhered to by everyone. Oceano are Adam Warren – vocals, Scott Smith – guitar and Chris Wagner on bass and together they embark on a journey of rediscovery, of reanimation and rebirth. Their calling card has the inscription ‘To cower and kneel I refuse’ and I think this applies to us all. Oppression is probably the biggest killer as it enables fear and depletes whatever strength we thought we had.
‘But remember my name, when I no longer remain’ from ‘Darkness Rising’ is a desire to be thought of after our demise, we hope our actions on this earth bring joy and comfort to those we leave behind. I tell you what I’m really loving about this record, it’s the videos, they are by far the best I’ve seen in a long time, I love the story, the imagery, the whole shebang from conception to conclusion. If you ever find yourself in blood stepped so far, maybe that’s ‘The Price Of Pain’ and the debt collector will not be left wanting. The way Adam presents himself in ‘Wounds Never Healed’ depicts unbridled stamina and courage, I love his stance as he powers out the lyrics, unmistakable and commandeering.
As deep as the ocean is, the chaos that reigns is ongoing, it is alive and it chooses to continue to wreak havoc. When your wounds never heal, when our mass produced scars cut deep, Oceano is the port in this storm. Our enslavement is far reaching; we have walked blindly into our own end, it is time to corral our thoughts and fight those days when there is no hope.
As we emerge gingerly out of the utter decimation of life as we know it, our collective conscience will call, in need of something to break our fall, I beseech you, don’t fuck this up for us all.
