Absence Makes The Heart

‘I wish those songs were enough to save you’

Straight outta Bristol we have cheeky chappies Downcast, vying for our attention with their sugar-sweet emo inspired tunes that are neatly packaged under their new release ‘WTF Happened’ which I feel is what most of us are experiencing at the moment.
Their music reminds me of Oh Weatherly and Seaway, and it’s time to break some hearts with ‘Raincheck’ a tale of how much life sucks when you’re not around the one you love.
Downcast are Liam Edwards – vocals, Ben Lucas – guitar /vocals, Jeff Bowyer – bass and Sam Harbridge on drums, together they make up a quartet that emanate cutesy feels whilst simultaneously traversing the crosscurrent waters of a scene that is eating itself alive.
Our suffering continues, with reports of hideous behaviour from within the industry, it takes some moxie to call it out, but our friends here boldly proclaim ‘Your Band Sucks Anyway’ it saddens me because music is the one thing that keeps me going and these ongoing problems are beginning to drain my enthusiasm.

It is a ‘Bittersweet’ phenomenon, a love/hate situation, but we soldier on, we have Downcast on our side.
A UK tour is scheduled for September including a cosy little spot on the Misery Loves Company Festival, where they will be ‘half stoned and watching illegal TV’ alongside their cohorts.
With their ‘lips like oxygen’ we endure long nights and heavy hearts, it’s time to take your pay cheque and cancel that raincheck.
