LOWLIVES Live at Bristol 02 Academy

LOWLIVES came out strong and kicked off with a scream that set the atmosphere exactly where it needed to be for the evening. Fronted by Lee Downer (ex-DEFILED) who effortlessly churned out gravelly banger after banger. The bassists energy notably knows no bounds, infact I cannot fault the vibes these guys brought even slightly and between songs, they are hilarious.

The crowd in this sold out show was an even mix of 20 year olds and people wearing 20 year old ALKALINE TRIO tee’s and yet for their set, LOWLIVES absolutely captured the hearts of everyone there with their melodic 90’s inspired grunge anthems.
I have to give a nod to this band’s aesthetic too, from the subtle beauty of their banner that’s reminiscent of old school 3d movies to the brick top drum kit and the exquisite lighting. This was a really well thought out show.
The songs are so catchy that you don’t need prior knowledge to find yourself singing along. LOWLIVES put on such a great performance that I’ve walked away a fan and dived deep into their beautifully crafted album and I recommend you do the same.
I briefly caught up with the guys after the show, unfortunately I was not equipped with interview questions but I can confirm they are thoroughly lovely people.
These guys are so worth catching live if you get the chance but if nothing else, I recommend you go check out their latest single LOSER. Especially if you are a fan of Nirvana or Alice In Chains, or if you own a band tee that’s old enough to drink. These guys are absolutely for you!
