When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?
I’ve had the song “waterlines” for so long now, it’s a staple part of my set, having wrote it a fair few years ago – it’s come a long way, different iterations of the track, changing performance style but it’s always had the same lyrics – I’m super proud of it!
How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?
It’s one of my most upbeat tunes, with a luscious organ melody in the breaks and hard-hitting rhythm, a nice lil bassline and an upbeat guitar chord pattern that I really love.
Can you tell us a bit more about the meaning behind the track?
It’s basically a song about indecision – not knowing what you want, uncertainty of the consequences of one’s actions; it’s a very personal track around my inability to make decisions!
How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?
It’s a lot more upbeat, a lot more rocky than most of my previous tracks, utilising different instrumentation to come together and create a more complex track than my previous ones!
What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?
I think that the vocals were the hardest part, having tried to capture the energy of the instrumentation and exceed it, being above that; but I’m super pleased with the take that I went with.
Why should a reader check out the track?
It’s a nice, fast, upbeat tune that’ll have anyone tapping along; a real indication of the variety that I try and put into my songs.
What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?
