Swing, Swing

‘Hush now, darling, just don’t say a word, you’ll get, you’ll get what you deserve’.

After traversing the most unforgivable and inhospitable terrain that the music industry can be, our Irish cousins Greywind are back with a brand new EP, that resets and stabilises the balance of power which had been undercut so unfairly. Now on terra firma that they understand and are content with, the popular sibling duo of Paul and Steph O’Sullivan are celebrating the return of their debut album ‘Afterthoughts’ back into their own safe hands. It was a battle that required limitless courage and tenacity, but they conquered and overcame the monumental and unnerving task.
Hold onto your emo hearts as they ‘Swing and Sway’ into action, taken from the new EP called ‘Antidote’ a tale of desperation and wanting to escape life’s troubles. Feelings of being stranded, with no sense of direction, and ultimately accepting your circumstances, even if you don’t want to.
There is plenty of emotional drama, comfortably positioned next to knife edge sensitivity, you never know which nerve they will touch next. With riffs to gladden your heart, and melodies to make you blub into your bedsheets, Greywind are back, and I am utterly besotted by their sass, their strut and their swing and sway swag.
The title track carries a message that is all too familiar. We have all been victim of being too kind, showering people with our time, our grace and getting practically nothing in return. I’m not saying you should expect anything, but a little respect and kindness coming the other way would be nice. The video depicts a handsomely unhinged Steph taunting a stricken figure in a hospital, they say revenge is best served cold, I’d say it is better stitched up and strapped and trapped into oblivion.
We complete this gift with ‘You’re My Medicine’ which is a tribute to the fans, who toughed it out with the band, standing shoulder to shoulder as they struggled on. The lyrics ‘thanks for the cure, I’m not sick anymore’ is testament to the unrelenting support they have received at their darkest of times.
This is the medicine you need right now, leave it at your bedside, should you require it nightly. Sleep well my friends.
