Interview: Lost Dogs of Ultimo

When did the initial idea for your latest single come together?

I was watching the news, and I was getting annoyed with the lying and deceit coming from the mouths of our leaders and decision makers on all levels of government. iVoid is my reaction to this.

How would you describe the track, to a reader that is unfamiliar with the band?

It is experimental electronic sounds with angry punk lyrics, delivered in a slow controlled way so I can drive the message through succinctly. It’s a sonic journey for the listener, that tells a story in 2 ½ mins.

How would you say that the track compares to anything you’ve done before?

I’m getting more experimental in the soundscapes of composition using samples and loops to build tension in the songs. I’m like being a free range musician in my own studio, then bringing in guests as collaborators to enhance the projects.

What was the hardest part about putting it together, and why?

The hardest part was finding the right combination of vocal delivery with Angus Ray who is collaborating on this project. Angus is Melbourne’s Political Provocateur.

Why should a reader check out the track?

If you’re sick of hearing lies, and if you’re sick of the unjust political system, or if you just like interesting experimental music, then you should listen!

What else can you tell us about the track, that we haven’t covered in this interview?

Artists have historically played a big part in delivering information to the community through audio or visual art pieces, this is my turn to get a message across. I’m very proud of my latest work.
