Five Year Storm

‘Today we rise above, tomorrow hit the floor.’

The name’s Pek, Templeton Pek and today we return after a five year absence with our new single ‘Perfect Storm’, quite apt for the weather we have been having recently. To my shame this is my first outing with these guys, what can I say, I try to cover as much as I can, and hope to rectify this in future. This is a great little tune, reminds me of YM@6, musically and vocally, it has similar textures and layers, and similar lyric style and structure, all beautifully set to a video depicting our unstable weather system. There is the idea of dereliction in the words, trust issues and a race against time, culminating in dealing with the ensuing damage. A yearning to set down the burden you carry, a harrowing prospect made possible and calculable by the chaos of a perfect storm.
Templeton Pek are Neal Mitchell – singer/bassist, Kev Green – singer/guitarist and drummer Simon Barford, who like my dear friends Project Revise make up a talented trio of trailblazers from my hometown, Birmingham. Local scenes are struggling, it is heartbreaking to see, but still these artists continue under extremely adverse conditions to bring us new music, it’s time we all stood up and took notice. Having toured with Punk stalwarts Bad Religion, Millencolin, The Offspring amongst others, it is having the chance to shine on your own terms and on your own merit that is the prize for artists. Recognition and appreciation of what they do, personal growth and awareness all help to cement the way forward.
For now though, if you need help, and if you can find them, you can hire one quarter of The A Team.
