Pop-punk trio Slackrr today reveal the official video for their latest single The Answer. Taken from their third full length album, Set The Night On Fire, which was released last month. Listen to Set The Night On Fire HERE and watch the official video for The Answer HERE.
The song’s meaning is reflected in the video, written about mental health and feeling lost and alone. The video portrays a man struggling with his feelings and running away in between scenes of the three-piece performing the track. When the man returns in the final scene, he is greeted by the band to represent that anyone going through a mental health battle is not alone and can get help.
Speaking of the video and track, Slackrr said “We are so excited about the video for The Answer being released into the world. The song was written in late 2022, and was one of the first songs to be written for the new album. The song is focussed on mental health struggles: feeling the need to run to try to get away from the intrusive thoughts and voices in your head to find an answer to your problems. It’s about constantly feeling unsure of the future and fearing there are always more problems just around the corner, but finding the strength and courage to face what lies ahead and get through the dark times to make way for better days. It’s about realising that even though you may have to deal with problems and adversity in your life, there is always hope for a brighter future and you are never alone in any of your struggles.”
Recorded at The Clubhouse in Bournemouth, Set The Night On Fire was mixed and mastered by experienced producer Pash Stratton and written by the band, Scotty Perry, Cait Bowyer and Joe Sammons. The album features the already released singles Holding On, Lie To Me and This Time, which premiered on Radio 1’s Future Alternative show with Nels Hylton, dubbing the band as “unreal, bonafide pop punk.” Set The Night On Fire features themes of grief, relationships and perhaps the most resonating and important, hope.
Slackrr have played over 550 shows in just a few years and continue their devotion to live performance, having thrown out the rule book when it comes to traditional tour schedules. The band are featured in Sony Playstation’s VR2 game, VR SKATER, with their previous release The Current. Forming in 2018, Scotty had originally started writing songs as an outlet following his mother’s battle with a rare form of blood cancer. When he got the news that her treatment had been successful, he became even more inspired to continue writing and joined forces with bassist Cait and drummer Joe. Their debut EP, I Know, was released in 2019, limited to just 200 copies and sold out in just 48 hours. The EP was followed by their 2021 debut album Time, It Waits For No One and 2022’s A Place That Feels Like Home. In 2022 the band signed with Lost Music Collective, run by Fueled By Ramen founder and former Less Than Jake drummer, Vinnie Fiorello.
