Teri Gender Bender releases new single ‘You Won The Man’

‘You Won The Man’, a new single and music video from Teri Gender Bender, is out today. When musing on the track and video, Teri shares, “In the tears that fell, a bittersweet melody emerged. My music video, captured in moments of vulnerability and sorrow, resonates with the profound truth that triumph often carries a hidden weight. It reveals the depth of emotions that winning can evoke, for success too bears its own burdens. Through tear-stained frames, I weave a narrative that reminds us that behind every victory lies a poignant tale of sacrifice, struggle, and the profound human experience. The tears I shed become the visual embodiment of the price paid, unveiling the paradoxical beauty found within the sadness that winning entails. Lyrically it is almost a sarcastic snarl at myself a “good for you” for winning whatever it was, being competitive isn’t always rewarding. The shots in the music video were filmed throughout the course of the year since early January.” The track arrives as Teri prepares to take the stage across the UK and Europe as support to The Mars Volta. She also recently released six live performance videos taken from her North American tour with The Mars Volta in 2022, which can be seen on YouTube now.
‘You Won The Man’ features on Teri’s upcoming ‘OUTSIDERS’ EP, which will be released on 7th July via Clouds Hill and can be pre-ordered here. She released her ‘CATSPEAK’ EP last month, which includes the singles ‘Like No One Else’ and ‘Nicole Speaks Out’.  The multi-instrumentalist took on guitar, bass and drum duties for these EPs. She wrote this collection of songs when she was 19 years old, but – just like the love she sings about – she lost them… and then found them again! A musical move inspired by Violeta Félix gives these songs a whole ton of the frenetic energy of growing-up and an innocence that we all lose when we get older. The lyrics may be dark but they also glow with rediscovered light and love.
Born the daughter of Mexican immigrants, Teresa Suárez Cosío aka Teri Gender Bender is a riot grrrl for the big stage with an exuberant personality, spectacular shows, and thoughtful lyrics. She’s known as the frontwoman of Guadalajara garage punk band Le Butcherettes who won ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Punk Record’ in the Indie-O awards and have supported bands like Jack White’s The Dead Weather and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on past tours. Teri is now sharing her hyper fixated avant-garde pop rock songs with the masses, which is great news for the world we live in, and for those of us crying out for authentic personalities who are proudly, eccentrically, individual. She released 12 highly eclectic EPs in 2022 alone, which are all available to listen to on Spotify.
