McFly release new single and announce UK tour

McFly are back with another killer single, the party rock anthem God Of Rock & Roll and announce a UK Autumn tour for 2023. God Of Rock & Roll was premiered on Zoe Ball’s BBC Radio 2 show this morning and was released immediately after, via BMG, listen here.  The video will be premiered here on YouTube at 2.30pm.

Tickets for the UK tour go on general sale from 5th May and bring a new live experience to McFly fans. In the spirit of their high energy guitar led album, McFly are taking on a rock & roll underplay tour. Bringing new album Power To Play and its riff heavy guitars to life in some of the best rock venues in the country, including Glasgow Barrowlands and Nottingham Rock City.  This tour will also see McFly play Alexandra Palace for the first time in their careers. Fans who preorder the album from the bands official store here will get an exclusive pre-sale code for the tour.

Another example of an all-encompassing tribute to the sound that has inspired this chapter of the band, God Of Rock & Roll, is as fun as it gets. Cheeky, self-deprecating, and irresistibly catchy, it’s everything that has defined McFly over the last two decades with added flair and flamboyance.

Speaking about the track and new record, McFly add: “Once we had landed on the fact that we were going to do 80s rock, there was just something in it that had such a McFlyness within it. High concept, guitars front and centre, colourful. It’s all the things we have always loved about music and what we do with this band. It’s a party rock song at its core, but its seed was that if there was a god of rock and roll, we would undoubtedly be worshipping him. A lot of that came from going to shows ourselves. We all went to see Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer last year and seeing so many people had come to the same place to enjoy rock music was incredible. Rock music celebrates life and having fun, and it feels like we all got deprived of that for such a long time.”

God Of Rock & Roll is the second track to be revealed from new album Power To Play, their biggest, boldest and most brilliantly noisy statement yet. Their highly anticipated 7th album is an all-out celebration of rock music and will be released on June 9th, via BMG. Pre-order Power To Play here. With production, songwriting and design talent all within the band, this record sees them make the record they have always wanted to make. Produced by Danny, alongside their good friend Jason Perry, the album is full of hair metal cheese, glam rock glitter and heavy metal attitude with hints of Van Halen, Mötley Crue, Poison and Def Leppard.

McFly returned last month with the brilliant Where Did All The Guitars Go? – view the video here.  A manifesto, declaration and a statement of intent all wrapped into one. The single was the perfect summation of McFly’s mindset right now. The song was added to key streaming playlists on release including Spotify’s New Music Friday, Apple Music’s New Music Daily and Amazon’s Fresh Rock.  They were also interviewed and previewed the track on BBC Breakfast.

McFly are excited to bring Power To Play to the stage and can’t wait to tour the UK and beyond. They have announced multiple dates, kicking off in Bristol on 23rd October and wrapping up at Nottingham’s Rock City on November 22nd. They will play London’s Alexandra Palace on 27th October. The tour pre-sale is live from 3rd May for fans who have pre-ordered the album, and the general on sale is on the 5th May.

Undoubtedly one of the UK’s most successful bands, McFly have scored seven #1 singles, released six albums, two of which were chart-toppers and have played thousands of sold-out shows. They have sold over 10 million records worldwide, won numerous awards including a BRIT for Best Pop Act, have over 1.2 million monthly Spotify listeners and have picked up over 91 million views on their YouTube channel.
