Having finished a UK tour with BFMV recently, Atreyu now give us a four track taster of how the future is looking for them post lockdown. Emerging from the wilderness, we head to the swimming pool with some pretty nifty synchronisation, for the opening track ‘Drowning’ looking good fellas! We commiserate, we reflect, we hope to re-ignite that spark we have lost, the vigour we had, the interest and the joy of living needs to be resurrected. I’m loving the clean vocals here; Atreyu mix the harsher sounds with the smooth to perfection.
Musically it’s the sound you are familiar with, having moved on from the various intricacies and dynamics of band life, they sound as good as ever. We summon the angels and demons for ‘God Devil’ to make sense of what ails us, but who will listen? Who will answer our call? A spiritual perspective when we feel we have nowhere to turn, maybe a higher power is up there waiting to guide us through.
The mega rant of ‘Capital F’ joins other songs in the scene to scream and shout at how our lives have become. The frustration pot has boiled over with the mighty Atreyu throwing their ‘boils my piss’ hat into the ring.
We join together for the triumph over adversity moment that is ‘Watch Me Burn’ a raise the roof track to chase away the blues and stand up for the fight of our lives.
Armed with the food of the gods, it’s time to sup with the devil.
