After last month’s huge initial announcement, featuring headliners Royal Blood, Alt-J, Two Door Cinema Club and The Wombats, Truck Festival refuse to take their foot off the accelerator with the addition of even more names announced today to appear at Hill Farm in July. As they continue to break boundaries by fusing heavyweight acts of the modern pop, indie, rock and alternative scenes with new and exciting upstarts, today’s announcement is led by the United Kingdom’s 2023 Eurovision entry Mae Muller. Taking the baton from Sam Ryder, who appeared at Hill Farm to a rapturous reception last year, Mae’s glossy pop hits will be sure to bring crowds together when she performs at Truck shortly after the globally renowned Song Contest. Mae’s performance will also replace previously announced Beabadoobee, who has unfortunately had to pull out of the event. Indie rock powerhouses The Reytons also join the Truck Festival 2023 line-up today, fresh from their latest album ‘What’s Rock And Roll?’ getting to number one in the UK Album Chart, and adding Oxfordshire to their extensive lists of places ticked off on tour. |
Much loved London indie outfit Gengahr will also be making the journey to Truck this July after taking a two year break from releasing music. New single ‘A Ladder’ will be sure to fit in their set amongst old favourites like ‘Heavenly Maybe’ and ‘She’s A Witch’. Critically acclaimed Leeds four-piece English Teacher have also been confirmed for Truck 2023 today, bringing their thrashing post-punk to Hill Farm which has already caught the attention of revered indie label Speedy Wunderground, and sunsoaked indie bangers will come courtesy of Brighton band Chappaqua Wrestling who will be fresh from the release of their debut album Plus Ultra which lands this April. After recently joining Inhaler on tour, FEET will also descend upon Hill Farm in 2023 to regale Truck goers with their wonky Britpop, alt-rock offerings. Speaking about playing Truck Festival 2023, English Teacher’s Lily Fontaine says: “We just got back from Texas where we met a guy, around our age, wearing jeans, cowboy boots, a tucked in western shirt and a Stetson. To close the conversation he said “I’m sorry ya’ll, I gotta get in this Truck” and then squeezed into the backseat of his friend’s Prius. We’re excited to play the festival in July.” FEET say: “We had the pleasure of playing Truck a few years ago and that was one of our best festival crowds that year. Looking forward to keeping up that streak, expect lots of new material and some new haircuts.” |
Further new additions also include emerging alt-pop upstart Beaux, South Coast art pop, math rock collective Cowboyy, Dublin rock pop in the form of Somebody’s Child, Mancunian rave pop outfit Porij, immersive pop from Larry Pink The Human, ramshackle and rallying punk rock tendencies with Opus Kink, scrappy rap rock band BILK and northern power pop quartet King No One. Alongside them you can also expect to see Luke La Volpe, Calum Bowie, Humour, Suds, Boy Bleach, The Covasettes, Nukuluk, Low Island, Persians Furs and Sunny Gym. Somebody’s Child say: “We’ve been looking forward to Truck for a couple of years now. Delighted we finally get to play it on the year of our album release. I’ve heard only great things. It’s gonna be special!” BILK say: “We’re gassed to play Truck festival. Heard a lot about it over the years and we can’t wait to leave our mark on it. See youse there nice one.” King No One say: “There’s pure elation to be taking our show to the main stage of Truck festival this year. It’s such a beautiful festival, with an exhilarating audience every time we’ve performed. We can’t wait. See you in the fields you fucking psychopaths” James from Porij says: “Gassed to be playing Truck Festival! Having grown up nearby, I went every year from 2012-2018 and had most of my formative festival experiences there. Looking forward to smelling the barn again.”Opus Kink say: “Dear Truck Festival, do wait up for us. We are coming to vent our spleens and in the coming we slobber and shake. Thanks for the dance. Hai!” Low Island say: “We all grew up in Oxford, going to Truck every summer – seeing Foals play their first festival shows to 200 rowdy people in a barn, it was wild. It was where we fell in love with live music. Crystallising the dream to be in a band and play shows of our own. We cannot wait to be back, experiencing it all again, this time from the other side of the barrier.” Humour say: “We’re super excited to play Truck Festival and get to see some of our all time favourites. It’s gonna be a screamer, we can’t wait.” |
And of course, 2023 sees the return of the regular Palm City stage, curated by local Oxfordshire promoters Switch. Bringing you some of the best electronic beats to run late into the night, this year DJ sets will come from jungle and drum ‘n’ bass expert SHY FX & Dread MC, reggae aficionado David Rodgian and soulful drum ‘n’ bass duo Hybrid Minds alongside Tempza. They’ll also be joined by Charlie Tee, Solah & Emma B, Chimpo, Oppidan, Kara and Matt Fluid across the weekend. And if that wasn’t enough, with an array of names already confirmed for the 2023 event, Truck Festival are also offering emerging talent the chance to place at the festival as part of their Band App competition. Closing on Monday 3rd April 2023 at 5pm, Truck have enlisted the help of Radio X’s John Kennedy to choose some worthy winners of those coveted festival slots – acts can enter Apply To Play 2023 here. Previous winners of Truck Festival’s Band App competition include Cassia, Bloxx, FUR and Hotel Lux. It concludes another palpable announcement from the UK’s leading new alternative music gathering who stress that music fans must act now if they don’t want to miss out on a slice of the action. A limited amount of Final Tier tickets are on sale now, and once they’re gone – they’re gone. All in all, Truck Festival boasts a frankly ridiculous line-up of every artist and every band you simply have to see right now – a capsule of everything shaking things up for a fresh new generation. Speaking about Truck Festival’s new additions to the 2023 line-up, Festival Manager Lily Brimble said: “It feels surreal that we are just under four months away from being back in the fields at Truck 2023, and we couldn’t be more excited to be bringing a lineup packed with the most talked-about bands and artists into one place – perfect for fans to discover their favourite new artists and celebrate those soundtracking the here and now! Truck has always thrived when spotlighting future trailblazers and the best in the scene right now, and this year is no exception.
