Tarah Who? talk upcoming UK tour!

So, how excited are you for your upcoming UK tour, and what can attending fans expect?

TGC: Hi! We are super excited!! we have a couple surprises and we changed the setlist a little bit. I am excited to meet the bands and crew. It’s always fun to be on tour. I cannot wait!

What memories do you have from touring in the UK previously, and what do you like so much about touring here?

TGC: I love touring the UK. Fun crowd to play for that’s for sure! One of my fondest memories actually is playing in London in front of a real punk rock crowd. I told the guys “Ok… we are like the Britney Spears of the event so let’s just play the whole set faster, just follow my lead!”. We played so fast without interruption people went crazy! A girl even broke her am in the moshpit and the security came to help her and she screamed “I am OK!!!let me finish the song!!!” When we saw that, we took a break to make sure she was ok and then i looked up and everyone was sweating, out of breath, actually thankful for the little break!!lol! it was really really fun!

And what tour survival tips do you have from touring the UK?

TGC: I like to be local when I tour. It’s actually in our rider. We don’t have time to check things out and eat local so I ask that we get local food and local snacks so we learn a little bit about the culture. Survival tips for touring the UK? I’d say don’t drink too much if you are the driver, you might forget you need to drive on the left side! But of course everyone knows that you should not drink and drive regardless…

Where else would you really like to tour, and why? I mean, is there a particular venue that you’ve always wanted to perform in?

TGC: Where I haven’t toured yet.:)  I’d love to tour Australia, Asia and South America.  I want to meet the people there and culture. 100%.

What can you tell us about the meaning behind your latest track ‘The Showdown’, and why should readers give it a listen?

TGC: The track serves as a commentary on my personal journey in music and is a message of determination, resilience, and unwavering faith in one’s own abilities. It’s an inspiring song for anyone who believes in themselves. It is a testament to the strength of independent artists.

Can you tell us about the creative process to the ‘The Showdown’? How did it initially come together, and eventually evolve into its final form?

TGC: I wanted to write a “winning” song and my wife wanted to collaborate on a song. She wrote the lyrics and I wrote the music.I wanted to add strings to it, like an orchestra to make it more dramatic and victorious. I called Fraser Campbell, a friend of mine who arranges strings. He got his friends to play the violin (Francesca Dardani) and Cello (Pete Harvey). et voila! I recorded the drums, guitars, vocals etc with Norm Block and Jason Orme in LA, Doug Krebs mastered the song. That’s the recipe for this song.

Who produced ‘The Showdown’ and what were they like to work with?

TGC: I produced it with the help of Norm Block and Jason Orme. I had been working with Jason for a while, and I wanted to work with Norm. So we all got together and worked on a few songs together. This session was a little more challenging for me to be quite honest. My drummer had left the band and I could not afford hiring someone else and there was no question for me to not add those songs to the album so I played the drums. It was challenging because it was a lot of pressure I put on myself and quite frankly it is exhausting. I gave my best on the drums, then on the guitar, on the vocals, bass on some songs. So it is an extensive amount of hours to stay focused on and stay 100% in your performance. but we did it, and now that it s done, i am really happy we made it happen.

What other new music do you have coming up, and how would you say that the sound of Tarah Who? is evolving at this point?

TGC: our next release is called “Fresh Meat Rockstars” straight up, simple rock’n roll song. I am getting older, more mature, i think the sound of my music reflects on that.

What else can we expect to see from Tarah Who? in 2023?

TGC: New album coming out April 28th, right after the UK tour, and we will be announcing a new tour real soon:) so…. we will be seeing you on the road this year!
