Brighton fuzz pop band BEACH RIOT are pleased to announce their return this year with new single ‘Tramlines’, set for release on 8th February 2023 via Alcopop! Records.
The band will be playing a special single release show on 24th February at Brighton Electric, with a London date TBA.
Building on their fuzz-soaked alternative pop sound, new single ‘Tramlines’ is a dynamic offering that fully showcases the band’s admirable range, as it swings from intense riffs and pinched guitar harmonics to rolling dream-pop soundscapes and back again.
Commenting on the track, the band say: “At first it seemed like a song about love, sharing love with someone special, and specifically that early stage full of crazy excitement. But when I started getting deeper into it there was more to it. The song is about escaping from a place of worry with someone you hold dear, with the feeling that you’re lucky to have each other, but it also brings the thought of knowing that there are other people out there that might never have that—especially those close to you.”
Recorded at Vada Studios and engineered by Pete Hutchins (Royal Blood, Gang Of Youths, Foals), the new single was mastered by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering.
‘Tramlines’ is the first new material from the band following the release of their debut album Subatomic Party Cool on Alcopop! Records in 2021. Recorded in 2020 and produced by Ally Jowett at his home studio in Brighton, the resulting collection of fuzz-drenched power pop was showered with praise from Kerrang! Magazine, CLASH, MOJO, The iNewspaper, Louder Than War and LOUDER.
A string of incendiary singles from the record saw the band steadily building momentum throughout the campaign, picking up new radio champions in BBC Radio One’s Jack Saunders and BBC 6music’s Tom Robinson, and crashing onto Spotify UK’s New Music Friday, Noisy, Alternative Noise, The Rock List, All New Rock, Top of The Rock, New Noise, Shockwave, and Fresh Finds Rock playlists to name a few.
The band’s radio support has also been bolstered by a #12 spot on the Amazing Radio Chart, an evening playlist addition from XS Manchester, plus key radio spins from Huw Stephens and Daniel P Carter at BBC Radio One, John Kennedy at Radio X, BBC Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Total Rock, legendary US station KEXP, and BBC introducing.
Following a run of German tour dates with Berlin power trio PABST last year, the quartet will be announcing further live dates for 2023 in the near future, having previously played Reading & Leeds Festival, Truck Festival, The Great Escape and more.
