One To Watch Ziggy Alberts releases new album ‘DANCING IN IN THE DARK’

Hailing from down under, Ziggy Alberts presents his sixth studio album, ‘DANCING IN THE DARK,’ as a time capsule of our experiences in today’s society. Alberts released and recorded singles in real-time to highlight the album’s relatability.

‘DANCING IN THE DARK’ is a sonic demonstration of Alberts’ observations of the good, the bad, and the ugly turned into an uplifting future-folk collection of songs. At the beginning of the year, he unveiled the first single ‘I BELIEVE’ and followed with an impressive line of releases, including TATTOOS,’ ‘THE GREAT DIVIDE,’ ‘THE SUN & THE SEA,’ ‘REWIND,’ and ‘CAMPFIRE.

The Australian word wizard elaborates on what inspired the album: “The very first inspiration for DANCING IN THE DARK came to me on a plane in 2020. I had not even yet finished searching for freedom, but through creating that album, I started dreaming about where I would like to go next. I wanted to embark on an exploration of what I call ‘future folk’: time codes, antidotes to dissonance, new soundscapes & topics, tuned backing vocals, and synth bass, all intertwined in a folk foundation. I didn’t expect the added Latin influence in some tracks, which is the beauty of letting an album grow and change along the way”.

On ‘DANCING IN THE DARK,’ Ziggy Alberts showcases a new level of vulnerability and honest songwriting. Next year, he will take his talents overseas for UK & Ireland tour. In May, Alberts will perform at one of London’s iconic O2 Academy Brixton.
