The Wombats announce 15th anniversary reissue of debut album ‘A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation’ in digital and vinyl formats

To celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of their fabled debut album The Wombats proudly present… A guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, The Wombats today announce a unique reissue of the album in digital and vinyl formats. Home to indie dancefloor staples such as ‘Moving To New York, ‘Let’s Dance To Joy Division’ and ‘Kill The Director’, it has sold over 400,000 copies in the UK, been streamed more than 457 million times and is BPI certified platinum. The news comes after the band finished the latest UK leg of their world tour and precedes the release of their new EP, Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This, out 18th November.
For the anniversary Warner Records UK have partnered with Serenade, the home of eco-friendly digital pressings, to release an exciting new digital format, limited to 250 editions, out 6pm GMT on the 8th November. Fans will have verifiable ownership of each digital pressing, containing the original track listing plus five bonus tracks, a new alternative 15th anniversary edition artwork designed by original artists Doug Kerr and Jonathan Greenbank, exclusive voice notes from frontman Matthew ‘Murph’ Murphy and drummer Dan Haggis, plus their name etched into the history of the record as a first owner. Dan will be joining Serenade to have a chat about the album live on Twitter Spaces on release. Fans can sign up for more info here. The album will also be available on vinyl for the first time, pressed on special edition pink vinyl with two prints of the original single artwork of ‘Moving to New York’ and ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’, due on April 28th, 2023. You can pre-order here, and stream the original album here

When NME’s 2007 album review stated: “We suggest you enjoy The Wombats – because they are sure as hell going to be around for a while yet”, they couldn’t have guessed just how true their words would prove. If anyone doubted it, their debut number one UK album, Fix Yourself, Not The World, and biggest ever headline show at London’s The O2 earlier this year confirmed the fact that the Liverpool formed three piece are a band at the peak of their powers. Built over sixteen years, their ever-expanding fanbase has continued to swell, boosted first by a new generation of fans discovering their vast catalogue of indie bangers through streaming, then via TikTok following the viral success of Oliver Nelson’s remix of their 2015 hit ‘Greek Tragedy’. Now with over a million Spotify followers, 1.5 billion catalogue streams and more new music on the way, it’s the ideal time to look back and celebrate the album that set them on their way.
