- Coldplay

Flavor Flav and Chuck D are the original members of the Public Enemy band. They met at Adelphi University early in the 80s. The band started performing during open mic sessions. They were also hosted by friends on radio shows, raising their popularity. They released their first album titled Def Jam through the support of their friend Def Jam who had risen through the ranks on campus to become the radio president.

R.E.M. is the force behind the ‘college rock’ wave. While they might not have created it, they made it popular in the entertainment scenes. The band was formed at the University of Georgia when Michael Stipe met Peter Buck. The two would later be joined by Bill Berry on the drums and Mike Mills on bass to form one of the most popular college bands of all time.
- The Strokes
The Strokes is easily identified with New York City. It was watered by a growing rock community in New York City around 2000. Nikolai Fraiture, Fabrizio Moretti, Nick Valensi, and Julian Casablancas started the band in preschool. They adopted the name Strokes in 1999 after a guitarist named Albert Hammond Jr. joined them.
