Days N Daze were hands down the best band I’ve seen live in a long time, and the best crowd to boot. The gig started with Lady Rage who whipped up a storm and sprayed the crowd down with a water pistol filled with “slut juice” in attempt to reclaim the word often used as a derogatory term on behalf of women everywhere.
Next up was Infested who stirred the pit and got the crowd moving, taking requests from their loyal followers and making the floor boards shake as they went.
Ultimately it was Days N Daze that blew me away in this small venue on one of their very rare performances in England.
Talking to the frontman Jesse outside the venue he stated he was “happy to be out and about, a week into the third tour since the pandemic but first over seas since covid” and that he “prefers these intimate venues that give them a chance to chat to people”.
He was joined for a few songs by his wife Veronica of Escape From The Zoo who played the Mandolin. Jesse was a lovely approachable fella who graciously allowed me to stash my jacket onstage whilst I survived the mayhem of the pit. He played phenomenally well especially considering his injuries. His hand was more bandage than hand from a “losing a fight with a cupboard” but that didn’t stop him putting on top notch performance. The amazing Whitney Flynn was sporting a band new head tattoo while showing off her trumpet skills and killer vocals.
It was such a powerful atmosphere with the audience chanting every single line from every song along with them. The crowd was so inclusive and so caring it truly speaks volumes of the band and those that follow them. The gig was a (no surprises) sold out 350 people capacity show held at The New Cross Inn in London.
Not only was the show intimate but the crowds knowledge of the band and the songs was truly intense.
A massive thank you to the bands for putting on such a momentous show and to the audience for allowing me to crowd surf out in time for my train. It was a beautiful experience was shared by like minded people. Unfortunately many of the band and crowd came down with Covid and I believe they had to cancel several shows but were able to pick up the tour later on.
I completely recommend making Days N Daze a part of your life and seeing them live if you can!
