Cabin Boy Jumped Ship will release their sophomore album Sentiments this Friday 27 May via AFM Records.
Hailing from the heart of England, Cabin Boy Jumped Ship are one of the hottest newcomers of the past few years, mixing Electro and Metal to produce a genre which the group brand as “Electronicore.” With their unique sound so commanding and addictive, the band are able to transform dance floors all over the world into pulsating mosh pits. The quartet have previously released two EPs, as well as 2019 album The Heartless which has been streamed more than two million times on Spotify.
Speaking on a new worldwide signing with record label AFM Records and its distribution partners Soulfood and Believe, drummer Reece Miller commented: “We are very excited that we signed the contract with AFM Records and being label mates of bands like We Butter The Bread With Butter or Lordi, to name just a few. That means also that our long expected second album will be released soon. We can’t wait to show our fans on what we worked hard for the last two years. And we would like to thank you for your patience.”
Sentiments is at its core Metal that moves you – a combination of heavy lyrics that capture a darkness many deeply resonate with, and sick beats that bury their way into your bones. ‘Ghosts‘ is a prime example of this, transporting listeners to a bleak and troubled space which whips up a storm of a song with its electrically charged passion, before proceeding to fade out in a suitably haunting way. ‘Deluded‘ hooks you in immediately with its seemingly stripped back and distorted sound, carrying ‘Ghosts‘ eerie energy with it before plunging into a thrilling beat drop. The track further presents a segment of crisp rap, an unexpected but complementary addition to the screaming vocals that drive the album.
‘Cure‘ takes a different route sonically, laying in a quieter place for longer, reflecting the raw pain that the track conveys until it reaches its explosive climax. ‘Smile‘ rounds off the record on an especially contemplative note lyrically, still sustaining the thrust and fiery instrumentals that mark the group’s signature sound and cohesive quality.
Sentiments was recorded and mastered at the Innersound Studios in York, England together with the Graves brothers Sam and Joe (Asking Alexandria, Glamour of the Kill, InVisions.)
