Walsall Wonderers

Alroight Bab, got the new record from our yampy cuzins Stone Broken, yow better loik it or I’ll chuck yow in the cut.
In a nutshell that is a word of warning, heed it or get thrown into the canals of Brum. My friends we have here the third album from my near neighbours Stone Broken and it is joy to the world moment. As with many artists who have suffered the wretchedness of lockdown, they emerge victorious and gallant after immersing themselves into the anarchy and absorbing the vileness to create something that we can hold in our hearts forever. Opener ‘Black Sunrise’ is a stunner, great chorus and harmonious riffage to see you through the day and then some. Instantly you know you are listening to something special.
For the title track ‘Revelation’ have your lenticular shields ready as you ‘find a wall, crawl and hide behind it’ invisibility being the order of the day to disappear from all the chaos. The band have expanded their recording prowess as we see drummer Robyn taking on vocal duties, with exciting and powerful results. It reminds me of Creeper, when keyboardist Hannah took the mic and the crowd looked on, astounded by her talent. Creatives need these different opportunities to increase their knowledge and keep the music fresh and tasty. If you ‘want to see it all’ – see what I did there, clever eh, then you’ve come to the right place.
There is enough firepower here to ‘blow our Ada’s tits off’ these are the bejewelled words of wisdom from our beloved Aunt Pol, who left our world too quickly. Fear not though, Stone Broken are in this for the long haul and so my friends, am I. The lighters at the ready anthem is ‘Me Without You’ and it is a genius piece of work, the kind you would expect from the stadium filler bands. Here is the proof that modern Rock exists; it lives and breathes, it is an entity that keeps proving itself time and again. Having worked their way up through the ranks, they bring the golden promise of a brand-new tomorrow, one that will include us all and resonate with us all. As we head ‘Over The Line’ we get ‘Stronger’ and together we spearhead ‘This Revival’. The story of our lives, articulated here in a way that adheres to the integrity of musicianship and is accepting of our foibles and nurturing of instinctive and fundamental needs, more than adequately filling the substantial void left by the spiral we were hurtling down.

So, sit tight people and enjoy all that has been revealed.
