Interview: Llyn Y Cwn

So how has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

I think it has gone down well, it has been the most popular so far, I did a live stream on Bandcamp to help promote it and that was fairly well attended with lots of interesting questions in the chat – I’m over the moon with the response.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

There is a 51min version of the last track Stratigraphy, which already weighs in at a hefty 31mins.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

I’d love to do something with Justin K Broadrick, I’ve been a fan since the age of 13 when Streetcleaner came out, I can trace the birth of Llyn Y Cwn back to the Godflesh track Pure II

How has your latest release been received?

I’m not really fussed what other people think of the music, I make it for myself, I’ve seen a few reviews which have been largely positive.

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

The entire album is trying to create an audio  marine environment / atmosphere, I live and work on the sea, it was a natural progression.

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

I’m playing the Unorthodox Paradox festival in the summer, I don’t play many gigs so it is a rare outing for a festival organised by some people I trust, I played it about 5 years ago and had the most beautiful weekend, the music heard was eclectic and wonderful and by the end everyone attending was family

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

See above

What else can we expect from you in 2022?

I’ve got an album for a more “up beat” project Deliquescent Crystals ready for release, I’m working on a collaboration with Japan’s Standard Grey, and there is talk of a split vinyl with another Cold Spring artist… watch this space!
