Josie Randle of ADPTD will release their alternative rock EP Bedroom Walls on 25 February 2022 via rad-pop. records. The upcoming record was created in the ADPTD Studio (aka bedroom,) and the therefore aptly named Bedroom Walls EP spans the topics of: mental health, political racism, depression, and relationships.

On top of being a singer, song-writer, guitarist and producer who is a woman of colour, Josie is also adopted, having an important story to tell. She has had the pleasure of collaborating with many friends and musicians globally while creating this unique and emotive debut.

ADPTD draws her ambient yet heavy musical sound from a love of 2000s emo rock, top 40 hits, as well as many other current artist within the pop/rock, pop-punk, and hardcore scene. Though ADPTD is a new project for Josie, she is no stranger to touring, previously being a part of the three-piece band Eye the Realist. ADPTD‘s artistry provides a raw kind of vulnerability, and an exploration into how life’s inward and outward experiences collectively impact one’s mental and spiritual wellbeing.

The first single ‘Coward‘ released in November 2021 coincided with the announcement of ADPTD signing to rad-pop. records.

Coward is such a heartfelt song. You’re bound to feel something. It’s an emotional contrast between

expression and surrender to circumstance. The song expresses the waves between the emotion of a

relationship and feelings that keep you there yet the pull of destabilization.

Highlights include ‘STAY‘ featuring WALWIN, combining harmonious cries and a pumping, infectious upbeat instrumental and ‘Scared,’ the second single released from the upcoming EP. This track is thematically rich in its covering of personal struggle surrounding the polarising sides of racism. It is not only heavy in subject matter, but also one of the heavier tracks on offer sonically. The chorus conveys Josie’s personal feelings as a woman of colour, how she grew up, and how others view her and other POC. A moving single illustrating frustration through innovative lyrical imagery, ‘Scared‘ is a true stand-out in its delivery and vocal excellence.

Josie spoke about the meaning of ‘Scared,’ and how the important storytelling matches the song’s structure: “Scared is a politically and racially centred song. It relates to me being an African American woman experiencing things first hand and having to witness what other POC have to go through as well. It’s tiring and exhausting. The Chorus speaks exactly the feelings, the verses are situations, and the bridge asks why it’s happening where things should be.”

Bedroom Walls is a collection of bedroom bangers that are sure to move you, both in emotional terms as well as physically raising you up out of your seat. A debut EP that shows promise of a powerhouse within the alternative rock scene.

The Bedroom Walls EP is to be released 25 February, 2022 via rad-pop. records.
