InVisions are gearing up to release their third album Deadlock on 11 February 2022. The ambitious and striking new record from the Yorkshire quartet covers themes surrounding loss, frustration and self-doubt, as well as other intrusive disturbances that crop up when distraction is at a minimum and life’s question marks begin to loom.

The Metalcore masterpiece was conceived and self-recorded by the band during lockdown, and mixed by producer Joe Graves (Asking Alexandria, Deaf Havana, Glamour Of The Kill). Though the album was penned during the lockdown period, the group wanted to avoid writing about the pandemic specifically.

Deadlock therefore takes a different shape to previous releases found on InVisions discography, the group opting for a different writing approach, with lyrics and messages that will still manage to stand the test of time. “The whole vibe of the last album was that we like to play heavier songs live, so we wrote a really heavy album,” says guitarist Lucas Gabb. “Whereas this album, we wanted to write something different, and we were also writing from a perspective where we’re not necessarily playing it live. We wanted something that was a bit more timeless. It has a bit more of an emotive impact, so if you’re feeling a particular itch, a certain song will scratch it, and still will six months later.”

Title track ‘Deadlock‘ swoops and soars, its beastly beat prominently spearheaded by drums like relentless bullets, as raw emotion rips forth vocally. “The title-track was born from literal writer’s block, from not being able to figure out what you want to say, and getting in your own head. I think there’s a recurring theme for the album, which is worth, and finding self worth in yourself and where you kind of fit into it,” says Lucas.

Arguably the most emotive lyrical highlights on the album are found on the duo of songs ‘D V P E‘ and ‘D E A L E R.’ Both tracks deal with the topic of addiction, but each from a different perspective.

Annihilist‘ takes a fiery and aggressive route, wielding passionate vocal weaponry that sonically slays. Final track ‘Fall With Me‘ finds sincerity laced among its intensity, being a song which surrounds the theme of grief and mortality. The track serves as a reminder that emotions are complex things, that though pain can become manageable over time, it still leaves a lasting impression that can shape who we are.

Vocalist Ben Ville commented on Deadlock‘s ability to unite through its relatable messages:“It’s very much things that we’ve been through as individuals, but also things that a lot of people have been through. It’s something a lot of people can relate to, and it’s a lot more personal.”

Deadlock is a thoughtful turn towards inner turmoil, a calculated and carefully crafted record that ignites your bones. This upcoming release from InVisions is not to be missed, solidifying them as an explosive and energetic force of the British Metalcore scene that is to be reckoned with.

Deadlock is available to pre-order and pre-save here, and will be available on all major platforms on 11 February 2022.
