Pengshui consist of drummer Pravvy Prav, guitarist Fatty and frontman MC Illaman who between them have a whole heap of skills. They have clearly spent their time learning organically how to build some absolute bangers and they are not afraid to use this platform to have their say.
This is emphatically the forefront of what’s going on in British music right now. This record is a riveting un-sugarcoated commentary of Britain as we know it.
This is album was my intro into Pengshui and I will definitely be keeping an eye on what they’re upto in future. These guys know how to bring the atmosphere, the angst and the honesty amid a fusion of genres from punk to grime.
Their drummer Pravvy Prav said “We want your chest to f*cking rattle” and they’ve followed through with their promise on every level.
Break the law ft P Money starts off with P Money laying it down lyrically which sets up the punching drums and crunchy breakdown beautifully. This track is energetic and guaranteed to get you hyped.
“Move the world” is my kinda lovesong, it sounds like it’s written and sung from the very heart. Whilst “Eat the rich” is a compelling political statement of a song with lyrics such as “We’ll be left with nothing if we don’t stand up” speaking of societies downfall and ongoing class war.
I would recommend picking up “Destroy Yourself” the latest release from these guys available from January 28th.
