King Nun announce January 2022 tour

After having made their live return this autumn with a handful of shows in and around the South East (with their trip further north having been curtailed by the petrol crisis), King Nun announce a mini-tour for January 2022.

Since the pandemic brought with it a grinding halt to the live plans they had for critically-acclaimed 2019 debut album ‘MASS’ (SXSW and various US tours among them), the quartet – Theo Polyzoides (vocals, guitar), James Upton (guitar), Nathan Gane (bass) and Caius Stockley-Young (drums) – regrouped, spending the enforced downtime first building their own studio – ‘The Monastery’ – and recording a series of live performance videos, attempting to get as close as possible to their renowned on-stage chaos. Additionally, back in the summer they contributed to DIY’s ‘Is This It’ 20th anniversary celebrations, with a suitably raucous live take on ‘New York City Cops’ (watch).

The shows will see them preview new material, which is heavier, sonically darker and more visceral than anything they’ve put their name to so far. “Our new songs bring up a more neurotic side to our music, concerned with something more existential. It is on the whole, considerably heavier than our previous releases and intends to be both frenetic and cathartic.” says Theo. “Playing live again has been incredible because it has allowed us to re-realise that, at the end of the day, it’s all about community and direct connection as much as our own intentions.” One-minute live versions of unreleased tracks ‘Golden Age’ and ‘Escapism’ can be watched via the band’s TikTok.
