One of Linkin Park’s best-known songs, Crawling, gets a folk version by Aline Happ, singer and music producer known for her work as the lead singer of symphonic metal band Lyria. This is not the first time that the artist pays tribute to the American group that influenced her entry into music, the singer’s YouTube channel also has a version of Numb, with more than 55,000 plays, and a cover of Crawling with a symphonic metal influence, with more than 12 thousand views. The folk version is available on Aline Happ’s YouTube channel.
“This is a very powerful song. Recently, The Hybrid Theory album turned 20 and Linkin Park is one of my favorite bands, so I wanted to pay tribute to them.”, comments Aline Happ.
The music video for “Crawling” was released in 2001, which is the second single from the album “Hybrid Theory”. The video was nominated for Best Rock Video at the VMA, a MTV award, and the song won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance. While the video shows the story of a woman trapped in an abusive relationship, the lyrics can have several interpretations such as childhood abuse, toxic relationships, anxiety and even the use of meth and the struggle with sobriety by the vocalist Chester Bennington, who died in 2017.
The videos posted on Aline Happ’s channel are sponsored by her fans on Patreon. Known worldwide, Lyria is a Symphonic Alternative Metal band founded in 2012 by Aline Happ. Since then, the group has released two albums via crowdfunding support, Catharsis (2014) and Immersion (2018) and played in several Brazilian cities and also online concerts for all over the world.
Aline Happ’s first solo album crowdfunding campaign was a success! Happ is recording her first Celtic/Folk versions of Rock and Metal songs. The artist reached more than 200% of the goal and soon will announce the next steps about the album and the perks selected on her campaign.
