Guy Bellamy – Great Music Stories

The Bellamy Tapestry.

My friends the music industry is indeed a fickle beast, loving and hating bands all in the same breath, diehard fans not allowing a bad word to be said against their favourites and drawing battle lines to stave off any undesirables. Things have gotten a little cliquey, I’d say.

Over the years things have changed in all aspects of our lives and so not surprisingly music has changed, for example, we no longer have the same release day fanfare as most of it is online now. We have new prospects and new choices and to guide us through this alternative era we have Guy Bellamy at greatmusicstories.com to thank. He has taken this Herculean task of championing new and emerging talent through his radio show every Friday at 5pm UK time and since 2015 he has helped many on their way to bigger and brighter futures.

What artists need is a conduit to showcase their work, radio airtime is perfect for this and Guy is generous in his attitude and outlook, absolutely marvellous.

Fuelled by a diet of Maxwell House, or a coffee of your choice, and Dundee cake and under the watchful eye of our resident matron, the show is a fantastic mix of music and chat, not only from the bands but also the fans perspective, one of my favourite parts as a dedicated random listener.

Of course the pioneers of Rock music have done their part to shape the industry, it doesn’t mean that there is no room for new bands; we just need a little encouragement to try a taste of the sonic sweetness these upcoming musical folk have to offer.

The story of Modern Rock is a continuation of what the classics have established, it is not meant as a decimation of our history. This collection of artists also features some of the tried and trusted names like The Quireboys and Magnum.

This fresh approach to Rock includes my friends, Copperworm, Verity White, Unknown Refuge and Amongst Liars, four bands that have remained hard-working, resilient and innovative in the face of a global crisis. They have provided the soundtrack, the laughs and the companionship that we all crave and that we all need to stop us teetering over the edge.

This is a chance for us all to get involved to support the growth of our much loved musicians, a chance to become part of the legend that is The Bellamy Tapestry, a shining example of addressing the challenges and hardships of life – never under-estimate it’s power and capacity.

So enough of me wittering on, who’s got the Dundee cake?
