The Cranberries’ darkest song, Zombie, gets a Symphonic Heavy Metal version in the voice of Aline Happ, accompanied by the guitarist Rod Wolf. The collab originated in the band Lyria now brings heaviness to the Irish band’s best-known song. The Zombie version is part of a series of reinterpretations that Happ performs on her YouTube channel, which already has versions of Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, and even The Mandalorian. Some of the songs are also available on streaming platforms and download platforms. The version is available on Aline Happ’s YouTube channel.
The song was inspired by a 1993 terrorist attack in the U.K, where two children were killed by the IRA (Irish Republican Army). Considered a war song by the Irish, Zombie talks about the pain of parents losing their children in a violent wave between British troops and Irish nationalists that lasted between the 70s and 80s. The song is the most popular of The Cranberries, becoming the first song by an Irish band to surpass a billion views on YouTube.
The videos posted on Aline Happ’s channel are sponsored by her fans on Patreon.
