Single Review: 50 Year Storm – Intravenous

Vein Glory

Hello my friends, hope you are well as we embark on this  ‘roadmap’ out of here, what feels like a promising step may be too much to bear for those of us tormented by the trials of  this lockdown. Addiction is something that lives with us all, it can take many forms and many levels of suffering, and this past year has not done us any favours. Artists in particular have used this time to keep their name in the public domain, with the hope of gigs resuming, we are kept informed that rock is not dead.  I’m back with our Cornish cousins 50 Year Storm who dig deep into the murky depths and offer up this diamond. It is poignant, reflective and forces us to imagine a time that Hell may not welcome us, as we tumble to uncertain realms with not even our dignity intact.

This is a premium slice of alt-rock, synth driven in style and waving a substantial amount of courage to help us out of this misery. Harnessing the power in our pain, it moves, ghost-like, a spectre that slips in and out of body and mind. You realise afterwards the profound effect it has had, and thankfully it isn’t too late. There is time my friends to reconcile and assimilate ourselves despite our flaws, many of us have found solace in music, don’t leave these guys behind, their efforts are to be applauded and be assured you are not alone, we are all ‘just one sleep from self-destruct’. The arrangement is targeted so we get the big sweep up into a ravishing chorus, fortified with quite clever old-school riffery that has an engaging modern twist; this is  the backbone here, reliable and trustworthy,

Grab hold of this track and stick in your vascular system you’re well on your way to recovery.

50 Year Storm – Intravenous out now via self-release.
