Album Review: Black Peaks – Live at the Brighton Centre

Listening to Black Peaks’ Live at the Brighton Centre takes you on a somewhat spiritual and simultaneously cynical journey. You do not want to miss this set.

The progressive rock band, formed in 2011 have previously released two full length albums to huge critical acclaim, ‘Statues’ in 2016 and ‘All That Divides’ in 2018.

This time round, Black Peaks have taken upon them the difficult challenge for any passionate artists, to perform their creative masterpieces in front of a crowd of zero, in their hometown venue in Brighton. This is later to be released on the 17th of April this year.

With the main running theme of a spiritual world, surrounded by nature, Black Peaks do a good job at setting a scene certainly, whilst providing us with their typical genre of hard rock, and occasional guitar solos or death metal screams. Songs such as ‘King’ and ‘Aether’ are giving us listeners a lyrical meaning behind this naturist world which we are painted with, and initial soothing instrumentals within tracks such as ‘Drone’ gives us a taste of music like that of Foo Fighters, which of course everyone loves.

Your heads will NOT stop banging along to this set, as the band have said themselves, “We’re super proud of what we’ve put together here…we can’t wait for people to hear it!”.

There is such a large musical variety within the set that you will never be kept bored. As a frequent rock listener, it provides the kick you intend on needing when listening to Black Peaks, there is never a dull moment!
