Sideman of The Bros, Landreth from Canada, guitarist Ariel Posen is bringing us all a fantastic album, out now!
Being his third album ever released, Headway manages to carry forward a similar theme as Posen’s previous work, implementing genres such as R&B, country-like inputs, and rock and roll.
Headway takes you down the road of Posen’s musical progress, creating an uplifting atmosphere when listening to these pieces.
This album does not fail to impress, as Posen manages to take his own path of recreating genres of music into a musical story of his own in Headway and being nominated breakout artist of the year by Western Canadian Music Awards does not come to anyone’s surprise when listening to the album Headway.
Posen often looks back on his past relationships throughout his songs. Using lyrics such as ‘Who knows what could have been, if we saw this through?’ in the subtle rock song ‘Did you see it coming?’ creates this poignant feeling. Other songs such as ‘Carry me home’.
‘What are we doing?’ uses the sorrow sense of irony when Posen describes himself as ‘helplessly happy’ again reiterating the album’s cry for reassurance, this is also shown in songs such as ‘Coming back’ and ‘Nobody else’. The titles of the songs themselves often tell the story in this album.
Slower and more mellow songs such as ‘Headway,’ ‘Nobody else,’ and ‘It’s you’ reflects Posen’s accepting thoughts of this person, it is quite beautiful in the way he writes these songs.
Although very clever, this album certainly creates such a large sense of sadness and longing for this past relationship which Posen wants, which can often be quite repetitive, but the sheer variety of genre implemented cuts that monotonousness short.
So, if you are ready for this masterpiece, I would give it a listen below!
