Silver Linings Part 2
We find our intrepid heroes in a room all kitted out with instruments, cabling, speakers, amplifiers and all other concert paraphernalia, their ‘abductor’ speaks via a computer screen asking for help in the search for water to replenish a devastated civilisation, the aptly named ‘Discovering The Waterfront’ album is the obvious choice and possibly a way out of this situation, assurances are given to that effect. They move swiftly and with a power that ignites the setting and we are level with their frustration and confusion as entrapment is something we are probably feeling too. The imbalance of ‘Your Sword Versus My Dagger’ could be a cunning ploy to outsmart your foe but I’m not sure our captors here will fall for it. The earth shattering breakdown ‘you lie, you lie’ in Smile In Your Sleep’ will see you remain awake and on your toes. Let’s punk things up with ‘Defend You’ as we journey onwards to discovery and disclosure, it’s time to sock it to your tormentors.
If you were wondering why ‘My Heroine’ was not on the greatest hits show, it is because you will find it here, and while ‘razor blades make perfect lines’ you’ll find me ‘Already Dead’ but not yet buried as an unbridled passion rushes through our collective veins, band and fans as one entity, fists in the air, roaring defiantly. Affording an ideal arena to channel a rabid aggression, wanting to help people in desperate circumstances and consequently securing your own dignity and the dignity of others.
We finish with ‘Call It Karma’ but hold on just a second; the aliens know where it’s at as they demand an encore. The incandescent raw power, the instigator of pit music ‘The Artist’ surges forth, mirroring the pent up rage and angst, dragging us right back to the first album and we yearn for a time when our body ‘Bleeds No More’.
The heightened perception is conversant with our lives as ‘this February darkness has me hating everyone’ has us attacking on the front foot in our attempt not to let this lockdown defeat us. Sparks are flying my friends, each flicker pierces us and if I can repair my battered, bruised and blistered skin in time, I’ll see you next week folks. Meanwhile, seek out your water source and drink deeply, and heal.
