A sneak peek at Burn The Ships: Deluxe Edition by for KING & COUNTRY

Christian country act for KING & COUNTRY have released the ‘Burn The Ships (Deluxe Edition: Remixes & Collaborations)’ which boasts no less than sixteen tracks from Luke and Joel Smallbone.

The instrumental ‘Introit’ helps set the scene with lush strings. ‘joy.’ allows the brothers to showcase their vocal talents as the melody reminds me of Clean Bandit at times. The keyboards swirl around the drum beat with their vocals smooth like silk.

‘Need You More’ is one of the songs that doesn’t get the remix treatment but the touching lyrics will be well-received by their loyal fanbase.

Then you are treated to the angelic ‘Control’ complete with pleasant-sounding acoustic guitar. The upbeat introduction on ‘Never Give Up’ makes me think of sunnier climbs and the hypnotic finger-clicking is a real earworm. ‘Hold Her’ is tinged in sadness and is particularly emotional given the forced-separation that the world has had to experience during the pandemic.

Their voices mix effortlessly alongside Moriah & Courtney on ‘Pioneers’ whilst the remix of ‘Amen (Reborn) (feat. Lecrae & The WRLDFMS Tony Williams) is a surprising collaboration but it does work as they have still retained the impactful chorus.

‘Fight On, Fighter (Theatrical Remix) is the type of song that would work perfect in a film soundtrack so that people could hear it on in stunning surround sound.

‘God Only Knows (Timbaland Remix) (feat. Echosmith) wraps things up with the tranquil beats and soft vocals. Even though this album contains three versions of the same song (‘God Only Knows feat. Dolly Parton) and the original recording they sound like three completely different songs which will allow people to find their favourite.

Overall, for KING & COUNTRY have this ability to connect with the listener whether they are singing about their love of God or their love of family and people will be able to relate to these powerful messages. A welcome offering in a year of uncertainty.

for KING & COUNTRY ‘Burn The Ships (Deluxe Edition: Remixes & Collaborations)’ is released on Friday 26th March 2021 on Curb/Word Entertainment.
