Jiving Jellyfish!
A trio of well- travelled, well- honed, musicians have merged to form this merry band, we have Roger Joseph Manning Jr, Tim Smith and Eric Dover, who bring us their second EP in the guise of The Lickerish Quartet, a worldly-wise bunch who pull no punches as they slice open our rotten to the core existence. This is the first official UK release and it brings us the single ‘Snollygoster Goon’ complete with madcap video full of deranged antics, but it mirrors real life. Taking an axe to the establishment, like many bands have been doing, it is an arena to vent your spleen my friends, some people say musicians shouldn’t get involved in politics, I think the opposite, as their lives are affected by policy and protocol, same as ours. They sing about ‘an appetite built on lust for power’ kind of sums it up really. The heavy boot stomp of ‘Sovereignty Blues’ will have you marching around the room in a vintage fashion, a real blast from the past approach to song writing and arranging.
The incredibly jolly ‘The Dream That Took Me Over’ is very poppy, catchy, sending your emotions racing, with quite a disco feel to get you grooving. It begs the question ‘Do You Feel Better?’ by golly you should be with this little foursome being sold as a ‘Threesome’, offering golden nugget lyrics and music to get you frolicking and a –rollicking, this a reunion to look forward to, all served up with an extra helping of the crazy and the warped.
Could you be the love of my life? Quite probably.
