Single Review: Forts like Vana – Damsel In Distress

Hot Damn!

Well my friends after spending a considerable amount of time in the world of Death metal, I have here a little morsel that will run smoothly over your palate and tickle those lockdown worn taste buds.  Nashville is the home to some of the biggest names in music and so it’s no surprise that this neat four-pack called Forts Like Vana are sizing up the landscape to see where they can leave their mark. The band formed in 2018 so are practically new-borns, aiming for the stars and shooting from the hip.

A brand new single ‘Damsel In Distress’ is causing a bit of a stir online, with its licks and tricks, reminiscent of SWS/All Time Low with the alt/indie rock vibes. It’s very easy on the ears and quick to grab your attention, with Logan the singer, Nito on bass, Diego on drums and Derek on guitar, they swing and sway gleefully, sweet and serene. The video is a look into our nightlife, when the bars open and the clientele who frequent them. From bands, to dancers and chancers, looking to trance and enhance. An insight that’s infectious,   and the harmonising at 2.45, sit back, relax with a cold drink and let the melody do its work.

I’ve said it before my friends, let’s get behind these new bands as they are the future of our industry, it may have been held to ransom now, but be there when we resume normal service.

Sadly this year we have seen too many damsels and not enough heroes. Our cousins in FLV are waiting to love you right.

Forts like Vana- Damsel In Distress out now via Hutch Down Records.
