Single Review: The Big Peach – Sad

Manchester band, The Big Peach, are bringing a refreshing wave of old music to new ears in a retro nod to bands like The Beatles and The Monkeys.

The classic sounds of the 60’s and 70’s with an authentic Mancunian twist.

Having already shared stages with the likes of The Lathums and Levitation Room, these 5-piece garage rockers are now working hard to bring the groove straight to our doorstep.

A statement of intent; their new single ‘Sad’ plays with vintage pop-rock, peppering a hit of garage and psychedelia into the mix.

The addictive concoction criticises capitalism and materialism as a false sense of happiness, exploring mental health and melancholy whilst being irresistibly catchy.

“Sad’ came to me within minutes. The chords, riff, melody and lyrics all flew out and it felt like the first time I had written a properly polished song naturally. I think this song is relatable, it explores the impact of mental health on intimate relationships, capitalism

and materialism as a false sense of happiness.

“I hope people will be able to relate to the lyrics and I hope the melody and the music behind it will get people dancing as it’s upbeat. It’s a mirror song. You think it’s going to be sad and it reflects back to happiness in the feel of it.”

You can’t seem to stop your foot tapping to this mirror song, the uplifting touching sentiment, the fuzzy guitars and the rocking blast from the past.

A bona fide, modern, retro hit.

Classic vocal hooks, tapping drums and stand out guitar work, ‘Sad’ is one you can’t miss, giving our generation a taste of the past. Taking us back to when music meant something and to the sounds that influenced our modern-day hits.
