Interview: Leon Marshall

How has your latest album/EP gone so far with fans then?

I’ve released a series of singles over the last 15 months, and I think it’s gone well, some better than others which is inevitable, but it’s been a great experience releasing over that time period and seeing the music and following develop.

Tell us something about the release no one knows?

When I first wrote “Going Nowhere” the “whoa’s” before the chorus weren’t supposed to be there, I had some lyrics there instead, but when I was singing it back to myself, I couldn’t remember them…and the “whoa’s” stuck.

If you could work with any band on a new song, who would it be and why?

Probably Steven Page, I’d love to work with him on some lyrics.

How has your latest release been received?

Yeah, it’s gone pretty well actually…I’ve had some really positive feedback on “Going Nowhere” so far!

Can you tell us about the meaning behind the track?

It was written after an old flame came back into my life, after I’d only just gotten over her, wanting to get back together, but I’d learned from my past mistakes!

What tours do you have coming up, and what can you tell us about them?

I’ve got nothing tour wise in the pipeline at the moment, but I’m hoping to get back out playing to big crowds again as soon as possible!

What venue are you most looking forward to playing the most, and why?

I love playing big venues with big crowds, and festivals and stuff, but I also really enjoy playing at my local Blues Bar, it’s a small venue, about 100 cap I think, but it’s so intimate and always an amazing atmosphere.

What else can we expect from in 2020?

I’ve just finished some studio time getting three more tracks down which I’m really buzzed about, they’re all a bit different and I can’t wait to start sharing them with everyone!
