EP Review: Verity White – Ungrounded

Play Misty For Me.

My friends, we are careering towards the end of this completely bonkers 2020, but wait, lookey here , we have a scorching hot entry from our very own Queen Vee, she who is gifted with the most velvety tonsils, floating around our souls and minds, and then nestling sweetly in our collective bosom. It’s been an horrendous time for artists, they are relying on these recordings, merch and online shows to boost their income and promote their art. Verity White have spent most of this year with regular Facebook shows that have kept us entertained and sane. Vee is a colourful character, warm, friendly and a trooper, with an unbridled passion and attitude.

We begin this   EP with ‘A Little Bit Of Trouble’ and it is reminiscent of that classic rock vibe, robust rhythm section and drums that radiate a warmth which is smoky without the smokescreen. You know exactly what you are dealing with here, there is an honesty and a purity in what these guys do, it is a quality that many bands lose over time.

With clean, clear, vocals that are pitch perfect, resilient, and slide effortlessly from a pussycat purr ( Hi Ruskin) to a growling tigress, they are, ladies and gents,  sempiternally yours. For keeps.

The title ‘Mist’ is alluring, a natural phenomenon, which translates through those driving guitars to smooth out the wrinkles that have appeared during our incarceration.

During these ‘Strange Times’ it is hard not to lose control of our lives and our minds, music is inclusive and generates a bond that is unequalled and mutually beneficial.

A time to ‘Turn Myself Around’ has arrived, dig a little deeper and you will find that strength, and with  this mini symphony tucked under your wing, we charge into the future knowing full well that my friends here have secured our trust and our sincerity.

If you’re feeling a little under the weather, then seek solace in the haven that is Verity White, an oasis in a barren landscape, a shelter for the perilously lost and not quite found it, the incessantly hounded and of course, the ungrounded.
