EP Review: Blanket – How To Let Go (Cinematic Reworkings)

Comfort Blanket.

Hello my friends, I’m taking it easy in my quest this week, I’ve got the gloriously smooth and sophisticated Blackpool boys Blanket for company who have reimagined their debut album ‘How To Let Go’ and produced this six-track EP that defines magnetism and allure.

The title track is incredibly moreish, gently building to an intensely dramatic climax, and urges you to press replay, a click you can’t refuse. Lighting the way with ‘Beacons’ we contemplate all that this signifies, we blunder through life sometimes, not knowing left from right, this will help to unwind and re-position our thoughts and emotions, align them so we can survive when our ‘Worlds Collide’ and we sit and console ‘Our Tired Hearts’.

These lads have captured the idea of being reflective and introspective, yet creating that palpable, riveting, impassioned feel which is appealing and as if by magic it fluctuates in time with your beating heart. The songs would fit neatly on a movie soundtrack; they have that immersive quality. They have been produced in a considerate manner, not once disrupting the integrity of the originals.

This is music to awaken your fatigued spirit, gliding effortlessly into your soul, reconfiguring the disorder so you are ready to face whatever life throws at you.

I found the songs extremely relaxing and empowering too, the perfect ‘me time’ record.

We need to move forward my friends, not be gobbled up by the past. We need to learn ‘how to let go’.

Stay safe stay well everyone.
