After recently adding BBC Radio One’s Jack Saunders and BBC 6music’s Tom Robinson to their growing list of supporters, Brighton fuzz pop quartet BEACH RIOT are delighted to announce news of their long-awaited debut album Subatomic Party Cool which is set for a June 2021 release on Alcopop! Records.
To celebrate the news, the band are pleased to announce a run of June 2021 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale at 10am on Monday 16th November 2020 from: http://wearebeachriot.com/
During lockdown, the band have been bunkered down in the studio working on the new body of material—their first full release since the 2018 Beach Riot EP—with further details of Subatomic Party Cool to be announced over the coming months.
Commenting on the album and tour news, guitarist/vocalist Rory O’Connor says: “Recording the album was the most cathartic medicine I could ever have hoped for in an otherwise desperately terrifying and uncertain time. Playing live is the reason the universe has put Beach Riot on this planet, and there’s gonna be one hell of an explosion of emotion and energy when we finally can get back on that stage and play all these new tracks to everyone.”
“Working on the album has been like a lifeline for me,” adds drummer Jonny Ross. “Having something to focus on creatively over lockdown has been so needed and I’m glad we’ve kept momentum going.”
“I think waiting until next year is the responsible thing to do,” he continues, on the band’s headline tour announcement, “as much as we do miss playing and meeting new fans. We can’t wait to get out there in the new year with new tracks in the set.”
Earlier this year the band’s UK tour with labelmates Gaffa Tape Sandy was sadly cut short due to coronavirus, but during lockdown the band have been keeping busy taking part in DORK Magazine’s Homeschool Festival, playing an Instagram Live gig for venue chain Jimmy’s, releasing an acoustic set filmed back in February for Pinkn.oise, and recording an exclusive cover of ‘Do You Believe’ by The Cardigans for George Godfrey’s (Radio X, Alt Disco) #LifeMentalHealth campaign.
Hotly tipped for the 2020 live circuit before the pandemic, the quartet have previously played Reading & Leeds Festival 2018 and Truck Festival 2019.
Press support from Kerrang! Magazine, CLASH, MOJO, The iNewspaper, Louder Than War and LOUDER has been bolstered by a #12 spot on the Amazing Radio Chart, an evening playlist addition from XS Manchester, plus key radio spins from Huw Stephens and Daniel P Carter at BBC Radio One, John Kennedy at Radio X, BBC Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Total Rock, legendary US station KEXP, and BBC introducing.
Previous stand alone singles ‘Wrong Impression’, ‘Tune In, Drop Out’ and ‘Robot’ have racked up over 200k plays on Spotify to date.
